The city many of us call home is now officially amongst the top
It was announced on Tuesday by the World Travel and Tourism Council, that Dubai is amongst top cities to be the most international in the world.
Dubai was ranked number 4 in the entire world for the most visited cities in 2017.
Which means, millions of tourists from around the world made their way to our beloved city last year.
The research, called the City Travel and Tourism Impact 2018, saw that almost 15.8 million tourists came to Dubai in 2017 alone.
And because of this vast number, Dubai managed to beat London, Singapore and New York in 2017.
The ranking goes as followed for most tourists in 2017:
- 1. Hong Kong
- 2. Bangkok
- 3. Macau
- 4. Dubai
- 5. London
- 6. Singapore
- 7. New York
- 9. Tokyo
- 10. Paris
- 15. Barcelona
Dubai beat London’s touristic number by one million visitors – London received 14.6 million tourists last year.
Also, Dubai surprisingly beat Tokyo, which received 10.8 million visitors and Paris that received 10.3 million tourists.
Barcelona also fell low on the list with only 8.9 million tourists in 2017.
As you can see at the top of the list, Hong Kong took the title home last year for the most international tourists in the cities that accounted for a whopping 27.9 million visitors.
In second place, 22.7 million tourists visited Thailand’s capital, Bangkok last year and finally, Macau came in at third place with 17.3 million visitors.
While those huge numbers are for 2017, we can only imagine 2018 will reel in larger international numbers this year – especially with one month to go till New Year in Dubai.
And with Burj Khalifa’s fireworks back on for 2018’s New Year celebration in Dubai, the city is sure to attract more tourists towards the end of the year.

It actually surpassed its own record from the year before of 8.23 million visitors.
